Brief

Founded in 2004, The Energy Roundtable has become an incredibly successful series of conferences, currently playing a key role in helping realise Canada’s energy superpower ambitions.
Influencing hundreds of billions in investments, typical Energy Roundtable speakers and attendees include CEOs and leadership from some of Canada and Europe’s largest public companies, alongside government officials and ministers.

Their existing website was doing the job well enough, with all the conferences selling out. However, the dated infrastructure was becoming increasingly cumbersome to use and update.

Poolhouse was brought in to help find the best solution.

The Challenge

With the majority of attendees being CEOs of public companies or high level public servants such as government ministers and their teams, time is of the essence.

The conferences themselves are all about introducing attendees to new people, new information and opportunities that can help their own company and make life easier. The website needed to reflect this, so vital that teams are able to find out about speakers and register for events quickly and easily. From the initial research, to registering for tickets, right through to the minor but important details such as making sure everyone finds the venue quickly and easily.

We also learned there was a consultancy arm to the business which although generating substantial income in it’s own right, due to the way it had evolved organically from recommendations wasn’t currently mentioned on the site. With the consultancy service in high demand this represented a key area for potential growth, so we were tasked with figuring out how best to make it available alongside their events.

Our Approach

Being a very busy website for over 10 years, there was an abundance of content. So we took time to go through it all and strip the site back to the essentials, ensuring our efforts were focussed on what mattered.

Alongside many conversations with the founder, we also started researching websites of similar businesses and brands in other countries. We then brought together the best options and made a plan for The Energy Roundtable.

The result was a much simpler experience, making it easier for visitors to find what they need and get where they need to be.

The Bottom Line

Truly great websites aren’t just about how they look. For a business of this nature, the website has the potential to play a vital role in organising each event. A golden opportunity to enhance the experience for everyone attending. The website is now central to ensuring everyone attending an Energy Roundtable conference gets the information they need, without the fuss, leaving them free to concentrate on what the events are really about.
