Brief

Based in LA and trusted by some of the most respected luxury brands in the game, Optick had gradually built an impressive portfolio of clients over the years, almost entirely through word of mouth.
With the studio normally fully booked, an upgrade to their premises had left Optick with spare capacity. The challenge was to fill it with new business, but from brands of a similar calibre to their existing clientele.

The Challenge

Optick works with some of the most respected brands in the US luxury market, trusted to photograph products and artwork worth many millions.

Their own website needed to be on par, reflecting the same qualities as their photography. Clean, minimal and uncluttered, with attention to the finer details being key.

There was another challenge too. Google searches were already crowded with cheaper competitors, making it difficult for potential clients to find the right photographer.

The site needed to look great, but also maximise search engine visibility and cut through the noise, whilst also staying true to Optick’s brand voice.

Our Approach

We spent a great deal of time discussing the project with Optick’s founder, asking many questions to fully understand Optick’s story, needs and vision.

The team had already created a great single landing page which was so simple there was barely anything on it. Just the logo, a few photos and contact details.

The simplicity was working.

Moving over to a system that was better suited for SEO, we carried the same concept through to the rest of the site, giving all pages much the same treatment as Optick’s photography.

Lots of white space, considered typography and nothing getting in the way of the work. Much like a very expensive art gallery, the site gives the photography room to breathe.

The Bottom Line

Great photography doesn’t need lots of explaining, it just needs to be seen. The new site gives Optick’s work the space and attention it deserves, whilst making it easier for the right brands to discover them. Simple, considered and built around the work.

Feedback

“Amazing work, really great job! The new site is exactly what we needed and often attracts compliments from clients, which is very encouraging. Poolhouse definitely exceeded our expectations.”
