Brief

Perched high above the harbour on St Mary’s, the Star Castle Hotel is unlike anywhere else in the UK. A historic sixteenth-century castle, award-winning restaurants, breathtaking sea views and four acres of beautiful gardens combine to create one of the most unique hotel experiences in Britain.
The Star Castle Hotel already enjoyed an outstanding reputation, loyal returning guests and an enviable location on the Isles of Scilly. What it needed was a modern digital experience that reflected the quality of the hotel itself.

The Challenge

Our challenge was simple: create a website that captures the magic guests experience the moment they arrive.

The previous website contained all the information visitors needed, but it wasn’t telling the hotel’s story as effectively as it could. Today’s travellers make decisions in seconds, often on their phones, and first impressions matter more than ever.

The new website needed to inspire visitors from the very first click, making it easy to explore accommodation, discover the restaurants, understand everything the hotel has to offer and, most importantly, encourage direct bookings.

Our Approach

We immersed ourselves in the customer journey. From researching how guests discover the Isles of Scilly to understanding what motivates someone to choose a luxury island escape, every design decision was centred around the visitor experience.

Alongside a complete website redesign, we produced new professional photography that captures not only the hotel itself but the atmosphere, history and spectacular setting that make the Star Castle so unforgettable. The website was rebuilt with a mobile-first approach, ensuring it performs beautifully whether someone is planning their holiday from a desktop at home or browsing on their phone while travelling. Clear navigation, immersive imagery and carefully structured content combine to create a digital experience that feels every bit as premium as a stay at the hotel.

The finished website better reflects the quality, heritage and personality of the Star Castle Hotel while making it easier than ever for potential guests to plan and book their stay. Professional photography now sits at the heart of the experience, helping visitors imagine themselves exploring the historic castle, relaxing in the gardens or watching the sun set across the Isles of Scilly.

The improved user experience allows guests to find information quickly across every device, while the refined design reinforces the hotel’s premium positioning and longstanding reputation as one of the islands’ leading destinations. But most importantly, the website works as a powerful marketing tool, inspiring visitors to choose the Star Castle Hotel before they’ve even stepped aboard the ferry or helicopter to Scilly.

The Bottom Line

Some places deserve more than a brochure website. They deserve a digital experience that captures their personality, tells their story and inspires people to visit. That’s exactly what we created for the Star Castle Hotel.

“Working with T2 Design was an enjoyable and collaborative experience from start to finish. They always take the time to understand not only our hotel but also the expectations of our guests, creating a website that captures the unique character of Star Castle Hotel beautifully. Combined with stunning photography and a thoughtful user experience, the finished result reflects the quality of the hotel and has become a valuable marketing tool for our business.”
